“Okay,” Jill said, squeezing his hand and holding up a dollar coin. “Here goes nothing.” She clamped her eyes shut, muttered, took a deep breath, and held the air as she tossed the coin. It dropped down the center of the well, and made a small splash when it reached the water.
Kevin reached into his pocket…and found no coin.
“Your turn,” Jill said.
“Did I give you my dollar?” he asked.
“Of course not. It’s in your pocket.”
He checked the other pocket. “No, nothing.”
“Then I guess you don’t get your wish.” She grinned.
