“Get me out of here!”
“How…how’d you get in?”
“I…” She didn’t know. “I just did. Get me out!”
“It’s locked.” She didn’t hear him doing anything, just his voice, but he must’ve been right outside pulling on latches and knobs Jill couldn’t see. “I’ll…I’ll go find someone. A caretaker. They’ve got to have a key.”
“Hurry.”
Silence. Jill continued running her hands along the wall, surprised at its smoothness, not at all shocked at its chill.
“He won’t be fast enough,” someone said in the darkness behind her.
