I’ll admit, I haven’t been 100% satisfied with most of these pictures, though that’s mostly to do with my own self-image and other such inane stuff. Today, however, I went looking for a place to take a picture, and I found the place, and I took the pictures. It was an immensely dissatisfying experience. I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe because I’d already lost the sun. Maybe because I don’t much like the way I look on film (or digital).
When I got home, none of the photos would work. It bothered me that, highly visible in every shot (these were long shots, wide angle in fact, and had all of me on wooden steps with vines), is the fact that I have a mobile phone clearly visible in my pocket every time. It just sticks out. It shouldn’t be there. I didn’t know until too late.
So I tried taking pictures of me at the computer looking at these photos. I wasn’t happy with any of those, either. Couldn’t quite capture what I wanted.
So this, basically, was an attempt to capture how I felt about it all.
